Praise
be to Allaah, we seek His help and His forgiveness. We seek refuge with
Allaah from the evil of our own souls and from our bad deeds.
Whomsoever Allaah guides will never be led astray, and whomsoever
Allaah leaves astray, no one can guide. I bear witness that there is no
god but Allaah, and I bear witness that Muhammad is His slave and
Messenger.

Get yourself equiped before Muharram

Be Careful during the Sacred Month of Muharram

Soon, insha Allaah, the month of Muharram is coming upon us and we will begin another Hijri year (1431).

Just
as the devout Muslim eagerly awaits any chance to earn good deeds and
gain Allaahs Good Pleasure, and is careful not to transgress any
boundaries, we should prepare ourselves for the coming of the month of
Muharram.

This is because Muharram is one of the four months that are SACRED in the eyes of Allah.


“Verily,
the number of months with Allaah is twelve (in a year): It was so
ordained, by Allaah on the Day when He created the heavens and the
earth; of them, four are sacred. That is the right religion, so wrong
not yourselves therein…” [al-Tawbah 9]


These four months, according to the Prophet (pbuh) are
Dhul-Qadah,
Dhul-Hijjah,
Muharram and Rajab.

Be EXTRA CAREFUL about SINS this Month

Due to its sacredness, any bad deeds done during the sacred months are WORSE than in other months.

Qutaadah
said concerning the ayah (so wrong not yourselves therein…) that
“Wrongdoing during the sacred months is more serious and more sinful
that wrongdoing at any other time. Wrongdoing at any time is a serious
matter, but Allaah gives more weight to whichever of His commands He
wants….”
(Tafseer Ibn Katheer)





Similarly, good deeds during this month bring a greater reward than in other months.
Ibn
Abbaas said in the tafseer for the above Ayah, that good deeds done
during the four sacred months bring a greater reward. (Ibn Katheer)




Fasting during the month of Muharram has special meaning and the Prophet (pbuh) has highly encouraged it.

Abu Hurayrah said: “The Messenger of Allaah (pbuh) said: ‘The best of fasting after Ramadaan is fasting Allaahs month of Muharram.’” (Muslim).



Ibn Abbaas said: “The Prophet (pbuh) came to Madeenah and saw the Jews fasting on the day of Aashooraa.
He said, What is this ?
They
said, This is a righteous day, it is the day when Allaah saved the
Children of Israel from their enemies, so Moosa fasted on this day.
He
(pbuh) said, "We have more right to Moosa than you " so he fasted on
that day and commanded [the Muslims] to fast on that day.” (Bukhaari)

If one fasts on the 10th of Muharram, Allaah will forgive the sins of the previous year.

The Prophet (pbuh) said: “For fasting the day of Aashooraa, I hope that Allaah will accept it as expiation for the year that went before.” (Muslim)

Ibn Abbaas said: “I
never saw the Messenger of Allaah (pbuh) so keen to fast any day and
give it priority over any other than this day, the day of Aashooraa.” (Bukhaari).






It
is mustahabb to fast on both the ninth and tenth days, because the
Prophet (pbuh) fasted on the tenth, and intended to fast on the ninth.
But, it is OK to fast only the 10th as well.

Ibn Abbaas said: “When
the Messenger of Allaah (pbuh) fasted on Aashooraa and commanded the
Muslims to fast as well, they said - O Messenger of Allaah, it is a day
that is venerated by the Jews and Christians.
The Messenger of Allaah (pbuh) said, "If I live to see the next year, insha Allaah, we will fast on the ninth day too."
But it so happened that the Messenger of Allaah (pbuh) passed away before the next year came.” (Muslim).





There
are many wrong traditions associated with the Day of Aashooraa and
Muharram, which have nothing to do with the Shariah. We have to guard
ourselves from falling into these wrong traditions and bidah because
this is also sin.


1)
Some other people attribute the sanctity of Aashooraa to the martyrdom
of Husain, RA. No doubt, the story of Husain, RA is one of the most
tragic episodes of our history. Yet, the sanctity of Ashura cannot be
ascribed to this event for the simple reason that the sanctity of
Ashura was established during the days of the Prophet (pbuh) , much
earlier than the birth of his grandson Husain.


2)
Some people consider Muharram an evil or unlucky month, for Husain, RA
was killed in it. So they dont hold weddings, and other celebrations
during this month. This is again a baseless concept, which is contrary
to the teachings of the Quran and the Sunnah.

Having
superstitions, such as this, is committing a kind of shirk since one
associates a particular event or person with having power to harm or do
good and only Allaah is the One Who has power over all things.




3)Some
people think it is Sunnah to prepare a particular type of meal on the
10th, and they hold big gatherings for this purpose. This, again has no
basis in the Shareeah.


4) Some people mourn and lament over the death of Hussain RA and hold special ceremonies for this very purpose.

However,
the Prophet (pbuh) has forbidden us from holding mourning ceremonies on
the death of any person, which was the practice of the people of
jahiliyyah (ignorance).

"He is not from our group who slaps his checks, tears his clothes and cries in the manner of the people of jahiliyyah." (Bukhaari)

And
if you really think about it, it is the greatest merit and reward that
Hussain RA received, when he attained martyrdom for the sake of Allaah.




5)
Some people go to the other extreme and dress up and cook special
dishes, etc. as a kind of celebration for this Day and that is ALSO
against the Quraan and Sunnah.


6)
Others hold special prayers or offer sacrifice or visit the graves,
specifically on the 10th of Muharram, thinking that there is special
reward or meaning for doing so in the Shareeah and this is also a kind
of bidah that one should stay away from.



Our behavior during this month should be like the behavior of the Sahabah, not one of mourning, neither one of celebration.

Rather,
we should value Muharram as one of Allaahs sacred months in which we
should strive to do good deeds and be extra careful of sinning.

We
should try and fast as much as we can in this month, especially the 9th
and 10th. We should not be superstitious about it (or for anything
else, for that matter) and if someone wants to get married during it,
they may.

We should not cook special meals on the 10th and if someone invites us for such a meal, we should not go.

Hati-hati selama Bulan Suci Muharram

Sebentar lagi, insya Allah, bulan Muharram akan datang kepada kami dan kami akan mulai tahun Hijriyah lain (1431).

Hanya
sebagai muslim taat bersemangat menanti setiap kesempatan untuk mendapatkan perbuatan baik dan
mendapatkan keridhaan Allah, dan berhati-hati untuk tidak melampaui batas apapun, kita harus mempersiapkan diri untuk menyambut bulan Muharram.

Hal ini karena Muharram adalah salah satu dari empat bulan yang SUCI di mata Allah.

"Sesungguhnya,
jumlah bulan dengan Allah adalah dua belas (dalam setahun): Benar-benar
takdir, oleh Allah pada hari Dia menciptakan langit dan
bumi; dari mereka, empat yang suci. Itulah agama yang lurus, begitu tidak ada kesalahan di dalamnya ..." ( At - Taubah : 9)

Jadilah EXTRA HATI-HATI tentang DOSA Bulan ini

Karena dengan kesucian, setiap perbuatan buruk yang dilakukan selama bulan suci BURUK daripada di bulan lainnya.

Qatadah
berkata tentang ayat (sehingga kamu tidak salah di dalamnya ...) yang
"Kesalahan selama bulan suci lebih serius dan lebih berdosa
bahwa kesalahan pada waktu yang lain. Kesalahan pada setiap waktu adalah lebih serius, tetapi Allah memberikan bobot yang lebih besar yang mana pun dari perintah-perintah-Nya Dia
ingin .... "
(Tafsir Ibnu Katsir)

Lakukan perbuatan EXTRA BAIK bulan ini

Demikian pula, perbuatan baik selama bulan ini membawa pahala yang lebih besar daripada di bulan lainnya.
Ibnu
Abbas berkata dalam menafsirkan untuk Ayah di atas, bahwa perbuatan baik dilakukan
selama empat bulan suci membawa pahala yang lebih besar. (Ibnu Katsir)
Perhatian khusus untuk Puasa



Puasa selama bulan Muharram memiliki arti khusus dan Nabi (saw) telah sangat menganjurkan itu.

Abu Hurairah berkata: "Rasulullah SAW berkata:" Sebaik-baiknya puasa setelah Ramadhan adalah puasa bulan Muharram "(HR Muslim).

Berpuasa di Hari As - Syura (10 Muharram)


Ibnu Abbas berkata: "Nabi (saw) datang ke Madeenah dan melihat orang-orang Yahudi berpuasa pada hari Aashooraa.
Dia berkata, Apa ini?
Mereka berkata, Ini adalah hari yang benar, itu adalah hari ketika Allah menyelamatkan
Anak Israel dari musuh-musuh mereka, sehingga Musa berpuasa pada hari ini. la
(saw) berkata, "Kami lebih berhak terhadap Musa daripada kalian" begitu ia berpuasa pada
hari itu dan memerintahkan [kaum muslimin] untuk berpuasa pada hari itu. "(Bukhari)
Jika seseorang berpuasa pada 10 Muharram, Allah akan mengampuni dosa-dosa tahun sebelumnya.
Nabi (saw) berkata: "Untuk puasa hari As Syuraa', saya berharap bahwa Allah akan menerimanya sebagai kafarat untuk tahun yang berjalan di depan." (Muslim)

Ibnu Abbas berkata: "Aku
tidak pernah melihat Rasulullah '(saw) begitu ingin cepat setiap hari dan
memberikan prioritas di atas apapun selain hari ini, hari As Syura. "(Bukhari).

Ini adalah dianjurkan untuk berpuasa tanggal 9 Muharram juga

Ini
adalah dianjurkan untuk berpuasa pada kedua hari kesembilan dan kesepuluh, karena
Nabi (saw) berpuasa pada hari kesepuluh, dan dimaksudkan untuk berpuasa pada hari kesembilan.
Tapi, itu hanya OK untuk cepat ke-10 juga.

Ibnu Abbas berkata: "Ketika
Rasul Allah (pbuh) berpuasa pada As Syuraa' dan memerintahkan
Muslim untuk berpuasa juga, mereka berkata - Wahai Rasulullah, ini adalah hari
yang dihormati oleh orang Yahudi dan Kristen.
Rasulullah Shallallahu '(saw) berkata, "Jika aku hidup untuk melihat tahun depan, insya Allah, kita akan berpuasa pada hari kesembilan juga."
Tapi begitu terjadi bahwa Rasulullah Shallallahu '(as) wafat sebelum tahun depan datang. "(Muslim).


Beberapa Kesalahpahaman dan tak berdasarkan tradisi

Ada banyak kesalahan tradisi yang berhubungan dengan Hari As Syuraa' dan
Muharram, yang tidak ada hubungannya dengan Syari'ah. Kita harus menjaga
diri kita dari jatuh ke dalam tradisi yang salah dan bid'ah karena
ini juga dosa.


1)
Beberapa orang lain atribut kesucian As Syuraa ke kesyahidan
dari Husain, RA. Tidak diragukan lagi, kisah Husain, RA adalah salah satu yang paling
tragis episode sejarah kita. Namun, kesucian Asyura tidak dapat
dianggap berasal dari acara ini karena alasan sederhana bahwa kesucian
Asyura ini didirikan pada masa Nabi (saw), banyak
awal daripada kelahiran cucunya Husain.


2)
Beberapa orang menganggap Muharram jahat atau bulan sial, untuk Husain, RA
tewas di dalamnya. Jadi mereka tidak mengadakan pesta pernikahan, dan perayaan lainnya
selama bulan ini. Ini lagi konsep yang tak berdasar, yang bertentangan
ajaran Quran dan Sunnah.

Memiliki
takhayul, seperti ini, adalah melakukan semacam syirik karena salah satu
rekan peristiwa tertentu atau orang yang mempunyai kekuasaan untuk menyakiti atau melakukan
baik dan hanya Allah-lah Yang Maha Kuasa atas segala sesuatu.


3) Beberapa
orang berpikir itu adalah Sunnah untuk menyiapkan jenis makanan tertentu pada
10, dan mereka mengadakan pertemuan-pertemuan besar untuk tujuan ini. Ini, sekali lagi tidak
dasar dalam Shareeah.


4) Beberapa orang berkabung dan ratapan atas kematian Husain RA dan terus upacara khusus untuk tujuan ini.

Akan tetapi,
Nabi (saw) telah melarang kami dari mengadakan upacara berkabung di
kematian setiap orang, yang merupakan praktek orang
jahiliyyah (kebodohan).

"Dia bukan dari kelompok kami orang yang menampar-Nya cek, air mata pakaiannya dan menangis dalam cara orang-orang jahiliyyah." (Bukhari)

Dan
jika Anda benar-benar berpikir tentang hal ini, itu adalah terbesar pahala dan imbalan yang
Hussain RA diterima, ketika ia mencapai kemartiran demi Allah.


5)
Beberapa orang pergi ke ekstrim yang lain dan berdandan dan memasak khusus
piring, dan sebagainya sebagai semacam perayaan untuk hari ini dan itu adalah JUGA
melawan Quraan dan Sunnah.


6)
Lain terus doa khusus atau mempersembahkan korban atau mengunjungi makam,
khusus pada tanggal 10 Muharram, berpikir bahwa ada khusus
hadiah atau makna untuk melakukannya di Shareeah dan ini juga merupakan semacam
dari bidah bahwa seseorang harus tinggal jauh dari.


Kesimpulan


Perilaku kita selama bulan ini harus seperti perilaku para sahabat, bukan salah satu dari berkabung, tidak satu pun dari perayaan.

Daripada,
kita harus menilai Muharram sebagai salah satu bulan suci di mana kita
harus berusaha untuk melakukan perbuatan baik dan ekstra hati-hati dari perbuatan dosa.

Kami
harus mencoba dan berpuasa sebanyak yang kita dapat di bulan ini, terutama ke-9
dan ke-10. Kita tidak boleh percaya takhayul tentang hal ini (atau untuk apa
lain, dalam hal ini) dan jika seseorang ingin menikah selama itu,
mereka mungkin.

Kita tidak boleh memasak makanan khusus pada tanggal 10 dan jika seseorang mengajak kita untuk seperti makan, kita tidak boleh pergi.
